* HOW TO USE VM *
************************
1. Create a staging directory and extract the compressed file into it. You should have the following files:
CRSDISK1.vdi
DATADISK1.vdi
FRADISK1.vdi
Oracle DB 12c R1 ASM.ova
readme.txt
2. In Oracle VirtualBox, click file -> Import -> select the ova file -> Next -> Set the “MAC Address Policy” drop list to “Include All Network Adapter MAC Addresss” -> Enter the VM directory (optional) -> click on Import button
3. Open the settings of the vm, in the right panel, go to Network and make sure the network adapter over there is the same as the network adaprted in your PC.
4. Attach the CRSDISK1.vdi, DATADISK1.vdi, FRADISK1.vdi in THE SAME ORDER as SCSI disks.
In the settings of the vm, in the right panel, click on Storage -> in the SCSI Controller icon, click on Add Hard disk button -> click on “Choose Existing Disk” -> click on “Add Disk Imag” button -> select the disk image file
5. (optional): configure a shared folder.
6. Start the vm.
7. Login to the vm as root and change the current user to oracle
su – oracle
8. Wait for a few minutes to all the database services to startup
9. Verify the database is up and running:
srvctl status database -d oradb

* Known Issues *
************************
When importing a disk file, you might encounter an error like the following:
Cannot register the hard disk ‘..\***.vdi’ {****-***-***} because a hard disk ‘****’ with UUID {***} already exists.
Either remove the existing hard disk OR change the UUID of the extracted vdi files by performing the following:
– Open a comman prompt window
– Change the current directory to the VirtualBox software directory:
cd C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox
– Issue the following command to change the UUID of the vdi files:
VBOXMANAGE.EXE internalcommands sethduuid “…\CRSDISK1.vdi”
– Try adding the vdi files to the vm
